Concrete Driveways in Altoona
In Altoona a driveway job starts with the city. A driveway is permit work here, and that includes replacing one you already have. Every approach that is built or altered has to be concrete, and the standard approach is 22 feet wide. If you want it wider, ask the city before we set a form.
The concrete is our part. The old slab is broken out and hauled away, the base is rebuilt where it has gone soft, and the new drive is formed, poured, broomed for grip and jointed.
Thickness, joints, the first winter and typical prices are covered on our page for concrete driveway contractors in Eau Claire.
Concrete Patios and Stamped Concrete
A good patio starts with where the water goes. We set the slope away from the house, keep downspouts off the slab edge, and leave a joint where the patio meets the foundation. After that it is your call: a plain broom finish, or a stamped and colored surface that reads like stone or wood plank.
Lot size matters more in Altoona than people expect. In its main residential districts the city caps hard surface at 60 percent of the lot, so on a smaller lot it pays to measure before adding a large patio to a wide drive. Layout and finishes are on our pages about building a concrete patio and stamped and colored concrete finishes.
Garage Floors, Slabs and Sidewalks
We pour garage floors, shed slabs and equipment pads, and we replace floors that have heaved, settled or flaked from road salt. For a detached garage over 200 square feet, Altoona’s code spells out the slab: a continuous floating slab of reinforced concrete with a thickened edge. Ask the city for the dimensions before the garage is drawn. More on garage floor slabs and replacement.
The sidewalk along your lot is yours to keep up in Altoona, and replacing it takes a permit from the Building Inspector. We tear out and replace broken sidewalk panels and tie them back to the drive at one grade.
How a Job Goes
Call or send the form with a few photos. We come out, measure, and talk through layout, finish and drainage, then put the scope and the price in writing. Once the permit is settled we schedule the tear-out and the pour, and we tell you when feet and then cars can go back on.
